What gets automated first in a home?
Whatever you do by hand every day: the blinds, the hallway light and the climate. Once those three are automated nobody goes back, and the rest (irrigation, pool, a leaving-home scene) is added later on the same installation.
The home automation that gets abandoned is the kind that fills the house with new remote controls. We work the other way round: we look at what you do by hand every day, and that's the first thing we automate. Usually it's three things — the blinds, the hallway light and the climate control — and once that's in place, there's no going back. Everything else gets added later, on request, on the same installation.

Is building work needed to install home automation?
No. The modules go behind the switch or inside the consumer unit you already have and the sensors are stuck on, with no drilling. In most homes the installation takes a single day and your existing switches keep working.

What home automation suits a second home on the Costa del Sol?
Presence simulation with schedules that vary, phone alerts for water leaks, power cuts or temperature out of range, the climate switched on before you arrive and temporary access for the cleaner or the technician. According to a study by LPA (Leading Property Agents of Spain) reported by Área Costa del Sol in December 2023, 44% of the homes in Marbella are second homes. A home that sits empty for months shows from the outside, and that is what home automation corrects.
Much of the Costa del Sol sits empty from October to May. An empty home shows from the outside: blinds always in the same position, no lights, no movement. We programme the house to keep looking lived-in, and to alert you before anyone else if something goes wrong inside.

Dartel Solutions sells and installs home automation with no building work in Málaga city and across the Costa del Sol, from Nerja to Sotogrande. It is the same team that installs the cameras, the alarm and the WiFi network, so everything ends up in a single app.
We work with Ajax automation (linked to the alarm), Shelly relays for blinds, lights and sockets, and Aqara door, window, leak and temperature sensors. All the equipment is in our shop and you can buy it yourself and hire us only for the fitting.

Frequently asked questions
Do you need to carry out building work?

What if the internet goes down?
Schedule- and sensor-based automations keep working without a connection. What stops working is remote control from outside the home, until the line's back.
