What does Dartel install in Mijas?
Dartel Solutions sells and installs Ajax alarms and cameras with no monthly fee, IP video door entry, access control and WiFi networks in Mijas Pueblo, Las Lagunas and Mijas Costa. In an urbanisation in Calahonda or Riviera del Sol, the usual choice is the Ajax professional alarm kit for the home and the Ajax Turret IP Camera 8 MP Indoor/Outdoor Dual Light White at the entrances. Phone and WhatsApp: +34 672 81 57 89.
- Ajax alarms with no monthly fee. Wireless, fitted without building work, and the equipment becomes yours. Alerts to your phone, no lock-in.
- Security cameras and CCTV. Ajax cameras, integrated with the alarm in the same app. Placed where they are useful, with the recording protected and the retention days set.
- Video door entry and access control. See and open from your phone, with separate access for each person and a log of who opened.
- Networks and WiFi. The foundation everything else runs on: if the network cannot cope, the cameras drop out. It is checked before anything is installed.
Is the installation the same in Mijas Pueblo, Las Lagunas and Mijas Costa?
No. Mijas Pueblo calls for wireless, discreet equipment, measured through thick walls and with respect for the protected historic centre; Las Lagunas is flats, communities of owners and shops, like any dense urban area; and Mijas Costa is urbanisation after urbanisation, where the home and the common areas are best planned together.
It is the most misleading municipality on the Costa del Sol for this. Under the same name there are three districts that are nothing alike, and a proposal that works in one is absurd in another.
Mijas Pueblo is an old town in the hills: narrow streets, whitewashed houses with very thick walls and, for the most part, a protected historic centre. There you do not hang just anything on the façade or run cable on the outside. We install wireless, measure the coverage between rooms before anything else —those walls attenuate the signal far more than people assume— and choose discreet equipment that does not clash. The other particularity is that many homes are only occupied in season.
Las Lagunas is the opposite: the most populated part of the municipality, urban and dense, right next to Fuengirola, with blocks of flats, street-level shops and an industrial estate. Here the typical job is a flat, a community of owners or a shop: door, low terrace, light well, storage room, and in a shop the entrance and the counter. It is also where we are asked most for CCTV for businesses.
Mijas Costa —Calahonda, La Cala, Riviera del Sol, Miraflores, El Faro— is urbanisation after urbanisation: townhouses, villas and large communities with a pool, shared garage and a vehicle access gate. The work here is half home and half common areas, and very often the right answer is to treat both at once so as not to end up with two systems that do not talk to each other.
Who installs cameras and access control in an urbanisation in Mijas Costa?
Dartel Solutions, starting with a plan and not with a quote: where each camera goes, what field of view it has and what it will not see, so that the administrator can take it to the owners’ meeting. Cameras in common areas are signposted, do not point at the public street or at a home, and vehicle access is solved with an opening for each home that can be cancelled one at a time.
It is the most frequent job in the municipality and also the one that is usually worst planned. An urbanisation in Calahonda or Riviera del Sol has a vehicle entrance, a pedestrian entrance, a garage, a pool, courts and sometimes several separate blocks; and it also has a committee that decides and an administrator who manages.
What we do first is not a quote: it is a plan. Where each camera goes, exactly what field of view it has and what it will not see. With that, the administrator can take the proposal to the owners’ meeting and answer in writing the question that always comes up —whether any camera points at a neighbour’s door or terrace—. The answer has to be there before the vote, not after the installation.
On common areas: the cameras are signposted with the information sign, cannot point at the public street or at a specific home, and access to the recordings is limited to whoever the community designates, with the retention days set. In gated urbanisations the best return usually comes from vehicle access done properly: a remote or opening from the phone for each home, which can be cancelled one at a time when an owner or tenant changes, instead of the key that has been circulating for fifteen years. The full reasoning is in security for communities and urbanisations in Mijas.
Why do cameras fail on the day of the incident, and how is it avoided?
For three reasons that are fixed at installation: the disk was overwritten and nobody knew, nobody knows how to export the video, and the camera is where it is no use. We set the retention days, show you how to take out a recording before we leave and place each camera at the right height and against the light.
Most of the camera installations we find working in Mijas fail on the day of the incident, and almost never because of the camera. They fail for three reasons, and all three are fixed at installation.
One: the recording is no longer there. The disk is overwritten every few days and nobody knew. The retention days are set at the start to what your case needs, and we leave it to you in writing.
Two: nobody knows how to get the video out. It records, yes, but the day it has to be handed to the police or the insurer, nobody can export it. Before we leave we show you how to do it yourself, and we check that it works for you.
And three: the camera is where it is no use. Mounted too high you see the top of the head and not the face; against the evening sun or a floodlight, everything is burnt out; and in an exterior on the coast, if the connector is not properly protected, damp and salt air finish off the connection point before the camera. Here what decides the result is where it goes and how it is adjusted, not how many megapixels it says on the box. And since all of this lives on the network, we check the network first: in large urbanisations it is what drops out, not the cameras.
How many home burglaries are reported in the province of Málaga?
According to the Ministry of the Interior’s crime statistics (Balance de Criminalidad, January to December 2025, as reported by Málaga Actualidad and Andalucía Información), 2,408 burglaries with forced entry into homes were reported in Málaga province in 2025, down from 3,163 in 2024: 23.9% fewer. Across Spain they fell from 81,094 to 74,353 (−8.3%). These are reported crimes, not every crime that happened, and 2,408 a year is still more than six homes a day in the province. It is a provincial figure: it puts the risk in perspective, but it does not decide what your home in Mijas needs, which is decided by looking at where people really get in.
Can I have an alarm in Mijas with no monthly fee?
Yes: you can have an alarm in Mijas without paying a monthly fee, and that is what Dartel Solutions installs. It is the question we get most and it is worth being precise. The Ajax alarms we install are bought: the equipment is yours from day one, like an appliance. There is no compulsory monthly fee, no lock-in and no penalty for leaving. The alerts reach your phone —and the phones of whoever you add— through the manufacturer’s app, and we charge nothing for that.
That is different from the model you will have seen advertised at so much a month: there the equipment usually stays the company’s and what you pay for is the connection to a centre that only a registered private security company may provide, which is not our case. They are two different things and both are legitimate; what is not legitimate is mixing them in the same advert. We do the first one.
What we do not do, said before you ask. Dartel Solutions is not a private security company registered in the National Private Security Register, and we do not pretend to be. We sell, install and maintain the equipment. Monitored surveillance —where an operator receives the alert and calls the police on your behalf— is a regulated activity that only a registered company may provide: we neither provide nor resell it. If your case needs it, we tell you on the first visit instead of selling you something else.
How we work, step by step
- You write to us and tell us what you want to protect. By WhatsApp or by phone. With four photos and a description we can already start to advise.
- We come and see it. No obligation. We measure, look at where people really get in and check the network coverage, which is what decides whether the cameras will hold up.
- We send you an itemised quote. Equipment on one side and labour on the other, with a plan of what each camera sees. No hidden fees and no lock-in.
- Clear timings. A normal home installation is done in a day; if cable has to be run or several buildings are involved, we tell you before, not after.
- We leave it explained and working. The app on your phone and on the phone of whoever you choose, tested in front of you. And we stay reachable afterwards: the phone number is the same.
How much does it cost to install an alarm in Mijas?
Dartel Solutions does not publish the price of an installation in Mijas on this page, and that is deliberate. Two installations that look the same do not cost the same: the number of openings to protect changes, whether cable has to be run or everything is wireless, the height a camera has to go up to and whether the network holds up or has to be reinforced first. A shop-window price would be given today and corrected on the visit, which is exactly what we do not want to do.
What we can tell you in advance is what it depends on, with the items broken down, in the guide to what an alarm installation costs. And if you prefer to see equipment and product prices before talking to anyone, it is all in the shop: you can buy it yourself and hire us only for the fitting.

Mijas FAQs
Do you install throughout the municipality of Mijas?
Yes: Mijas Pueblo, Las Lagunas, Campo Mijas and the whole of Mijas Costa —Calahonda, La Cala de Mijas, Riviera del Sol, Miraflores, El Faro, Mijas Golf and La Cala Golf—. Also in Fuengirola and Benalmádena, which are next door.
I live in Las Lagunas, in a flat. What do I need?
The same as in any dense flat and no more: the front door, the terrace if it is a ground or first floor, the light well if a window opens onto it, and the storage room, which is where most things go missing and where almost nobody fits anything. With that well covered you protect more than by spreading twice the equipment around by eye.
We are a community of owners in Calahonda. Where do we start?
We come, take a look and prepare the plan of which camera sees what, together with the itemised quote, so that the administrator can take it to the owners’ meeting and the vote is held with the numbers and the fields of view in front of everyone. No obligation. The decision is the owners’ meeting’s.
My house is in Mijas Pueblo, in the old town. Can it be installed?
Yes, with wireless and discreet equipment, which is what suits the historic centre: there is no need to chase walls or run cable on the façade. What we do first is measure the coverage between rooms, because the walls of those houses attenuate the signal far more than people expect, and that is what decides where each element can go.
How many days are the recordings kept?
The ones configured at installation, and it is a decision worth taking deliberately rather than leaving whatever comes from the factory. It is set to what your case needs, respecting the principle of keeping them for as long as necessary and no longer, and we leave it noted down for you. We also show you how to export a recording before we leave: it is what you need on the day something happens.
Can I have an alarm in Mijas with no monthly fee?
Yes. Ajax alarms are bought and the equipment is yours: no compulsory fee and no lock-in, with the alerts on your phone through the manufacturer’s app. What it does not include is monitored surveillance —an operator receiving the alert and calling the police—, which is a regulated activity and is only provided by a registered private security company.
The house is empty for half the season. How do I find out if something happens?
The alert reaches your phone wherever you are, and you can watch live. You can add a neighbour, the administrator or whoever manages your rental to the alert list, without giving them access to anything else. In an urbanisation, it is also worth coordinating the common area and the home so that there is no stretch that nobody watches.
I have a shop in Las Lagunas. What is the reasonable minimum?
A camera at the entrance and over the counter or the exit point, with the retention set and the recording protected, plus a local alarm for outside opening hours. And knowing how to export the video yourself, which is the part that decides whether the system is any use.
Do you support English?
Yes: Spanish, English, Russian and Ukrainian, from the first enquiry and quote through to installation and after-sales support.
