What does Dartel install in Benahavís?
Dartel Solutions sells and installs Ajax alarms and cameras with no monthly fee, access control and professional WiFi networks in Benahavís, both in the village and on the estates in the mountains. Here the work has a particularity it does not have on the coast: the plots are large, and that changes the order of things: first the network, then the cameras. Phone and WhatsApp: +34 672 81 57 89.
- Ajax alarms with no monthly fee. Wireless, with outdoor detection for the garden and perimeter. The equipment is yours and alerts go to your phone.
- Security cameras. Ajax cameras in the same app as the alarm: when a detector triggers, the image is already in front of you.
- Networks and WiFi for a large plot. Cable and access points where they are needed. Without this, everything else drops out.
- Video intercoms and access control. Open the gate from your phone and give access per person, not per key.
Why is a large plot in Benahavís protected differently from a flat?
Because what you have to watch is not the door: it is the route to the door. A mountain plot can hold a vehicle access with a gate, a pedestrian access, a swimming pool, a plant area, sometimes a guest house and almost always a vegetated side that nobody passes through… until somebody does.
The approach that works here is the opposite of an apartment’s. First you decide where we want to find out earliest —gate, pedestrian access, the blind side— and only then is the house protected. If the alert arrives when they are already inside, the system has come too late even if it works perfectly.
Outdoor detection is the delicate part: it has to tell a person from a cat, from a branch moving and from the shadow of a cloud. A badly adjusted outdoor detector ends up disconnected within a week, and a disconnected alarm protects nothing. That is why the adjustment is done at the house, with the vegetation that is there, and reviewed after a few nights.
The WiFi does not reach the whole villa: is it fixed with repeaters or with cable?
With cable and access points, almost always. It is one of the questions most often asked about villas in Benahavís, and the honest answer is not the one anybody likes to hear: in a large villa, a repeater fixes nothing. The repeater takes the signal that arrives —already weak— and re-broadcasts it at half the speed, so at the point where you need it there is still no usable signal.
What fixes a house with two or three floors, concrete walls, a semi-basement garage and a garden is this: a network cable to each zone, an access point in each, and all of them managed as a single network, so the phone jumps from one to another without dropping the call. If there is a separate building —guest house, pool house, garage at the far end— and cable cannot be run, a wireless link goes between the two buildings instead of a trench.
This is not an extra: it is what decides whether the cameras hold up. A camera connected over weak WiFi drops out on the very day it is needed, and nobody noticed it was down. We cover it in detail in WiFi dead zones at home: repeater, mesh or Cat6 and in Cat6 cabling at home.
Who controls who comes into a villa in La Zagaleta, El Madroñal or Los Arqueros?
In a villa in Benahavís it is not one person who comes in: several do, and almost none of them live there. Gardener, pool cleaner, cleaning, maintenance, whoever shows the property and whoever receives a delivery. The answer is not another key, because a key cannot be taken away from one person without changing the lock.
What is installed is independent access per person: their own code or their own fob, with a schedule if needed, and a log of who opened and at what time. When someone stops working at the house their access is cancelled in a minute and the others notice nothing. Access control for a gated estate is covered separately in access control for communities, offices and businesses.
And if the villa is empty for spells, the important point is a different one: that the alert reaches somebody who can go. The system alerts your phone wherever you are and also that of the trusted person you add, without giving them a key to anything.
And the village of Benahavís, with its houses pressed together and narrow streets?
In the old part of the village the problem is not the perimeter, it is the façade. Houses share walls, streets are narrow and many homes have a roof terrace or patio with a way through to the next one. There you protect the street door, the low window and the roof-terrace crossing, with small wireless equipment in the colour of the façade, with no trunking in sight.
For the village’s shops and restaurants the approach changes again: the camera over the point of sale and at the back door, with the retention days adjusted and the recording protected, and knowing how to export a video yourself. That last point we leave tested before we go. And a compliance detail that is overlooked on a narrow street: the camera can frame your premises and your door, not the street or the neighbour’s terrace. It is solved with the framing and with privacy masks, and the information sign is put in place.
How many home burglaries are reported in the province of Málaga?
According to the Crime Balance of the Ministry of the Interior (January–December 2025, reported by Málaga Actualidad and Andalucía Información), 2,408 burglaries with force in homes were reported in the province of Málaga in 2025, compared with 3,163 in 2024: 23.9% fewer. Across Spain they fell from 81,094 to 74,353 (−8.3%). These are reported crimes, not all that occurred, and 2,408 a year is still more than six homes a day in the province. It is a provincial figure: it helps put the risk in perspective, not to decide what your villa in Benahavís needs, which is decided by looking at where people really get in.
Can you have an alarm in Benahavís with no monthly fee?
Yes, and that is what we install. The Ajax alarms are bought: the equipment is yours from day one, with no compulsory fee, no lock-in and no penalty for leaving. The alerts reach your phone —and the phones of whoever you add— through the manufacturer’s app, and we charge nothing for that.
That is different from the pay-so-much-a-month model: there the equipment usually stays the company’s and what you pay for is the connection to a centre, which can only be provided by a registered private security company (National Private Security Register), and that is not our case. Both are legitimate; what is not legitimate is mixing them in the same advert. We do the first, and the difference is explained in alarm with an alarm receiving centre or phone alert.
What we do not do, said before you ask. Dartel Solutions is not a private security company registered in the National Private Security Register, and we do not pretend to be. We sell, install and maintain the equipment. Monitored surveillance —where an operator receives the alert and calls the police on your behalf— is a regulated activity that only a registered company may provide: we neither provide nor resell it. If your case needs it, we tell you in the first conversation instead of selling you something else.
How we work, step by step
- You write to us and tell us what you want to protect. By WhatsApp or by phone. With the floor plan and four photos we can already start to advise.
- We come and see it if the job calls for it. A professional visit with a prior quote, which is deducted if you award us the job. We measure, look at where people really get in and check the network coverage.
- We send you an itemised quote. Equipment on one side and labour on the other, with a plan of what each camera sees. No obligation and no hidden fees.
- Timings given in advance. A normal home installation is done in a day; if cable has to be run or several buildings are involved, we tell you before, not after.
- We leave it explained and working. The app on your phone and on the phone of whoever you choose, tested in front of you. And we stay reachable: the phone number is the same.
How much does it cost to install an alarm in Benahavís?
Dartel Solutions does not publish the price of an installation in Benahavís on this page, and that is deliberate. On a large plot two jobs that look the same do not cost the same: the length of cable changes, whether the network has to be reinforced first, how many accesses have to be covered and whether detection goes in the garden or only inside. A shop-window price would be given today and corrected on the visit, which is just what we do not want to do. What it depends on, with the items broken down, is in the guide to what it costs to install an alarm; and if you prefer to see equipment and price before talking to anyone, it is in the shop.

Benahavís FAQ
Do you install in La Zagaleta, El Madroñal and Los Arqueros?
Yes. The whole municipality of Benahavís is within our usual working area: the village, La Zagaleta, El Madroñal, Los Arqueros, La Quinta, Monte Mayor, La Alquería, Puerto del Almendro and Capanes del Golf. And we carry on on the other side of the boundary, in Marbella, San Pedro de Alcántara and Estepona.
The WiFi does not reach the end of the plot. Can it be fixed without building work?
Almost always, yes. Where cable can be run through a false ceiling, external trunking or the services void, cable goes in with one access point per zone; and if there is a separate building the cable cannot reach, a wireless link goes between the two buildings instead of a trench. What we do not recommend in a large villa is stacking repeaters: they deliver half the speed just where there was little already.
Can I give the gardener access without giving him a key?
Yes. Each person has their own code or their own fob, with a schedule if needed, and it is logged who opened and at what time. When he stops working at the house, only his access is cancelled, without touching the others and without changing any lock.
The villa is empty for half the season. What changes?
What changes is who the alert has to reach. The system alerts you wherever you are, and also the trusted person you add to the app, without giving them a key to anything. And it is worth keeping the house’s internet line contracted and up: without internet there is no remote view.
I have an outdoor detector from another installation that goes off with cats. Can it be fixed?
Normally yes, and the problem is almost never the detector: it is the height, the angle and the sensitivity with the vegetation in front of it. It is adjusted at the house and reviewed again after a few nights, which is when you really see whether it gets it right.
Can I have an alarm in Benahavís with no monthly fee?
Yes. The Ajax alarms we install are bought: the equipment is yours, there is no compulsory fee or lock-in and alerts go to your phone through the manufacturer’s app. What it does not include —and we will not sell it to you— is an operator receiving the alert and calling the police for you: that is a regulated activity that can only be provided by a registered private security company (National Private Security Register).
Do you sell the equipment or only install?
Both. You can buy the equipment in our shop and hire us only for the fitting, or have us do the whole job. If the equipment is bought in the shop, the installation gets 10% off the quote, under the conditions published on the installation page.
