The cost you do not see: the monthly fee
Here is the difference that moves the most money. Alarms connected to a central station, Verisure or Securitas type, run on a monthly fee (usually between 30 and 50 €/month, and more after the introductory offer). They look cheap at first, but the real cost adds up year after year.

What pushes the quote up (or down)
- Wireless vs wired. Running cable (chasing, trunking) raises the labour cost; a no-works installation (Ajax wireless) is cheaper to fit and breaks nothing. Key in flats and rentals.
- How many points. Each extra detector or camera adds to the total.
- Type of property. A villa with a garden and several access points needs more points than a flat.
- Distance between points. Cameras far from the recorder = more cable = more cost.
- Central station connection (ARC). Optional; it adds a fee if you want it, but gives a 24-hour response.
- Maintenance. On fee-free systems, an annual check (batteries, sensors) keeps everything sharp.
How to spend well (not cheap)
- Start with the access points (door, garage, ground-floor windows): they protect more per euro than filling the house with sensors.
- Choose no fee if your use does not justify paying all year.
