What it is and what it does
The white DomeCam Mini 8 MP Dual Light is a compact 8 megapixel (3840×2160) dome with a 110° horizontal field of view. At night it offers 15 m infrared or 15 m white light, to give you colour at short range. It detects people, pets and vehicles using artificial intelligence, and has True WDR/HDR, a microphone and microSD support of up to 256 GB. It is IP65 and withstands −30 °C to +60 °C.
Who Dartel installs it for
This is the dome Dartel fits in a hall, a garage or a doorway when faces need to be recognised at close range and the ceiling or wall is light. The dome cover protects it and it sits neatly on a ceiling. For dark surfaces, choose the black DomeCam Mini 8 MP Dual Light; if 5 megapixels is enough, the white DomeCam Mini 5 MP Dual Light.
How we install it
We run a PoE network cable to it from the recorder or the switch; it receives power and sends video over that cable. We fix it at a height that keeps the face in frame and places it out of reach, and we keep it away from direct sun. We add it to the app by QR code, test the night light and set up recording.

Frequently asked questions
Do you notice the difference with 8 MP on a dome?
Yes, if the area is small and close: when you zoom into the recording, a face is easier to make out. In return, it records at 20 frames per second and takes up more disk space than a 5 megapixel camera.
Is it suitable for outdoors?
Yes, it is IP65 and works from −30 °C to +60 °C. However, with a night range of 15 m we recommend it for entrances and covered areas, not for watching the far end of a plot.
