What it is and what it does
The black Ajax 8-channel HDC NVR recorder is an indoor unit for a home or a small business. It records ONVIF and RTSP cameras up to 8 MP, compresses in H.265 or H.264 and has an HDMI output to connect a monitor. It records on a schedule or on motion and can be viewed from the Ajax app. The hard disk is not included: it takes one 3.5 inch SATA disk of up to 16 TB.

We suggest it when you want to see the cameras on a screen as well, for example in the office of a business or in a technical room, as well as on your phone. It suits anyone starting out with a few cameras who wants a simple unit. For more channels, we look at the black 16-channel one.
How we install it
We place it indoors, somewhere ventilated and not very visible. We connect the cameras by network cable and the monitor by HDMI, fit the disk and add it to the app. We check that every camera is recording and set up the schedule or motion recording, according to what you need.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a monitor to use it?
No. You can watch and play back from the Ajax app on your phone. The HDMI output is useful if you also want a fixed screen, for example in an office.
Is the hard disk in the box?
No. It has room for one 3.5 inch SATA disk of up to 16 TB, and the disk is bought separately. We work it out according to the days of recording and leave it fitted.
