TurretCam 8 MP 4 mm camera, black

Black 8 MP TurretCam with 4 mm optics for outdoors: sees further than the 2.8 mm one, with 50 m infrared and PoE power

What it is and what it does

The black TurretCam 8 MP 4 mm is an 8 megapixel (3840×2160) outdoor camera with 4 mm optics. That lens is narrower than the 2.8 mm one: it covers 75° to 85° and sees further with more detail. Its infrared reaches 50 m. It is powered by PoE over a network cable and can record to a microSD of up to 256 GB, as well as to the recorder.

Who Dartel installs it for

It is the one Dartel recommends for the entrance path, the gate of a country property or a perimeter, where the person is some distance from the camera. For a nearby access, the black TurretCam 8 MP, with a wider angle, is a better fit. With white light at night there is the white TurretCam 8 MP 4 mm Dual Light.

How we install it

We connect it with a PoE network cable to the recorder or the switch, which carries data and power. We aim it at the stretch where we want to see the face, at a height that cannot be reached, and avoid it looking straight into the sun. We add it by reading its QR code in the app and check the framing of the path.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose 4 mm and not 2.8 mm?

Because it narrows the shot: it covers less angle, 75° to 85°, but sees further with more detail. It is better for a long path; for a nearby door, the wide 2.8 mm shot is more convenient.

Does it need a recorder?

It needs somewhere to store the video: the recorder or the camera's own microSD of up to 256 GB. With several cameras we recommend the recorder, which brings all the recordings together in one place.
